OVERWATCH esports Gets Its Own Division in Blizzard Entertainment

Blizzard Entertainment has finally announced that Overwatch will be getting its own dedication esports division. This dynamic move will integrate Major League Gaming, which was acquired by Blizzard in 2015, and will include management of operations, sales and distribution of the Overwatch League and Overwatch World Cup.

The new division, which will retain the MLG name, will build on Blizzard's nearly 20-year history as a leader in esports and leverage MLG's extensive experience with live events and content distribution. It will also operate the MLG-branded media network, which will broadcast both Blizzard and Activision esports content as well as other premium gaming programming.

Blizzard already has an esports team that focuses on their global esports programs like Heroes of  the Storm and StarCraft, to name a few,  but it is expected that the esports team will assist the new Overwatch division with media production, sales, and distribution. So at least the new division won't feel so alone with this incredible backup. Perhaps the greatest news and opportunities that this brings to the table is the field of job opportunities that have just opened up to fill the division with rising talent.

With these initiatives underway, Blizzard currently has multiple open esports positions, with more on the way. Apply now at jobs.blizzard.com, and stay tuned there for more esports openings in the weeks ahead.

So if you have ever wanted to work at Blizzard, keep your eyes peeled. This may just be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
