Hard to believe that it has been 25 years since the original Japanese launch of the Sony PlayStation in December of 1994! Over the last 25 years, PlayStation has been a global leader in the games industry and its consoles have been top sellers. To celebrate Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO, Jim Ryan, has released a small blog post thanking gamers for their long-time commitment to the brand. Celebrations occurring throughout the week have also been confirmed for social media. Here’s hoping they might sneak in a few PS5 tidbits as well!
I myself have owned every PlayStation system released to date and have especially fond memories of the PS1/2. Playing through MGS1 and Chrono Cross back in the day was mind-blowing! The whole rivalry between the PlayStation and N64 is also very fascinating from having lived through it and its historical impact on the industry as a whole. Then there was the PS2 and its landmark success! I can’t even count the number of hours I sunk into classics like MGS3 and Ace Combat 5. PS3/4 has lost my interest quite a bit, but those early years of PlayStation will forever be some of my favorites. Happy anniversary PlayStation and thanks for all the memories!
What are some of your favorite PlayStation memories?!
