Pokémon GO will conclude an incredible summer of adventures with two major global events: Pokémon GO: Dark Skies, starting August 18th, and Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Max Finale, launching August 23rd.
The towering Eternatus will make its long-awaited global debut during this showdown event. Trainers around the world will take on the massive Gigantic Pokémon in thrilling raids, as legendary heroes Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta return to battle against the rising darkness.
Running from Monday, August 18th through Sunday, August 24th, Pokémon GO: Dark Skies will feature every Dynamax Pokémon currently in the game. The event reaches its peak during Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Max Finale on Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 24th, where every available Gigantamax Pokémon makes a dramatic return. There will also be increased chances to face Eternamax Eternatus, along with more raids featuring Zacian and Zamazenta in their Crowned forms.
All Trainers level 13 and above will automatically receive the GO Pass: Max Finale starting August 18th at 10 a.m. local time, unlocking special encounters, Candy rewards, Max Particles, and more. For those who want to take it further, the GO Pass Deluxe: Max Finale offers boosted odds of encountering Shiny Dynamax Pokémon, plus exclusive bonuses like extra Candy and additional Dynamax battles. As Trainers progress through the GO Pass tracks, they’ll unlock chances to battle Eternatus and collect valuable items along the way.
During the event, expect heightened activity at Power Spots, an increased Max Particle collection limit, bonus Candy for catching Pokémon, and no limit on daily remote raids throughout the Max Finale weekend.
And just when you think the skies can’t get more electric—Rookidee is taking flight as the star of August’s Community Day on Saturday, August 30th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time!
As someone whose favorite regional bird is Corviknight, I couldn’t be more thrilled. Trainers who evolve Corvisquire during the event or up until Saturday, September 6th at 10:00 p.m. will receive a Corviknight that knows the exclusive Charged Attack, Air Cutter—a sleek move worthy of a steel-winged guardian.
Logging in during the event also unlocks Timed Research that includes an extra encounter with a Rookidee sporting a special event background—an awesome little reward for collectors and fans of this determined bird.
Beyond that, Trainers will enjoy one-fourth Egg Hatch Distance, double Catch Candy, and increased chances to receive Candy XL. Incense and Lure Modules will each last for three hours. Plus, you’ll be able to make an extra Special Trade and enjoy reduced Stardust costs for all trades until 10:00 p.m. local time. And don’t forget to take a few snapshots—you might get surprise photobomb visits from Rookidee!
