Ultros, the psychedelic Metroidvania from Hadoque and Kepler Interactive is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5. It’s one of the most unique Metroidvania titles I’ve seen in a while that not only has a vibrant art style, but clever mechanics that make full use of its otherworldly setting. Its world is created by a collaboration of talent from across the industry including Niklas “El Huervo” Åkerblad (Hotline Miami), Oscar “Ratvader” Rydelius (The Gunk, Kenshō), Mårten Brüggeman (Magicka, Toca Life), Hugo Bille (Fe, Stick it to the Man) and Pelle Cahndlerby (Steamworld series).
While I think there’s a large variety of excellent Metroidvanias on the market, I think Ultros stands out with its incredible art style, and some awesome combat mechanics too. It has launched with a 10% discount on Steam, and there’s also a demo available to try out.
