I can’t believe it’s been almost three years ago that Cyberpunk 2077 was unleashed to the world. There is no reason to rehash all the drama, controversy, and issues that plagued that infamous launch. Even though the PC version I played was already quite good at launch, for better or worse, starting a new, fresh character for Phantom Liberty and patch 2.0 shows how far we’ve and how polished the game truly is now. It’s shot to the top of the Steam charts this week with no signs of slowing down.
Am I happy that Cyberpunk launched to early? Not a bit. I know there are shareholders, publishers, and finance issues that force a lot of games into our laps way too early but there is nothing us gamers can do to change that besides not pre-ordering games and waiting to see the state of the launch.
Speaking of today, and the current status, this game is absolutely gorgeous to look at, smooth in gameplay, and so chock full of content, it’s just insane. It’s not perfect but it’s what the game should have been almost three years ago. So, are you willing to give it another chance or the game dead to you after the history? For me, I think it’s time to suck up your pride and just dive back in. We can’t change the past but we can bask in the glorious present of 2023 where we have been absolutely bombarded with quality games, Cyberpunk included. Roll a fresh character and enjoy. I know I have.
