Hoping to bring a modern take on the classic survival horror gameplay styles of beloved past games, such as Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark, are the teamed up developers Dual Effect and Abstract Digital. Together they are creating their take at reviving the genre’s classic gameplay in Tormented Souls.
Take on the role of Caroline Walker, a woman investigating the disappearance of twin girls at Winterlake. During the investigation, something terrible happens that leaves her to wake in the dead of night, naked in a bathtub with some decrepit medical equipment hooked up to her. Now she must fight for her life as she explores the halls of an abandoned mansion turned hospital.
The developers are also working with publisher PQube in order to bring their game to PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2021. I have to admit that this game looks very interesting, even with there only being a one minute trailer so far. There’s still so much for them to show when it comes to puzzles and gameplay before we can be for sure, but this title might be the classic’s true revival into the modern day of gaming.
