Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been making the rounds in the news for weeks now as the teasers and info drops keep increasing as the game approaches its December 2nd release date. Among those many teasers, Marvel has just dropped the second of a series of animated prequel shorts. This seven-minute-long short entitled A New Sun Must Rise centers around how the Midnight Suns team recruits Magik, a powerful young mutant with the ability to create portals to the realm of Limbo.
Scarlet Witch does make an appearance in this short, characterized very much like the MCU version of her pre-snap. The main thing that always gets me whenever I see Scarlet Witch though still hits me here especially as wolverine makes a cameo as well; I can’t help but think of that iteration of her that had a Cersei Lannister-style relationship with her twin and the one time Wolverine watched them from bushes…Marvel Comics can get weird.
The shorts are animated by Sun Creature Studio and DIGIC Pictures. Currently, there will be more prequel shorts that will release weekly as we approach the release of Midnight Suns. The total set will include five different videos focusing on how Lilith became the Mother of Demons, and how Super Heroes like Blade, Magik, Ghost Rider, and Nico Minoru came together to form the young core of the Midnight Suns team.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns will officially release on December 2nd for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games. It will also be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch at a later date. Interested players can pre-order the game on all platforms right on the Midnight Suns website.
