The Sega Genesis Mini is still a couple of months out but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming one of the most exciting mini consoles to launch yet! Releasing this September, the Genesis Mini is set to include 40 titles with emulation being handled by the experts at M2. So far 20 of the included titles have been revealed but Sega just took the opportunity to reveal 10 more and they include some of the best yet! The new list of titles include Mega Man: The Wily Wars, which was only released on the Sega Channel for us in North America making the game unavailable for a long time.
The rarer Phantasy Star IV has also been announced along with classics Sonic Spinball, Golden Axe, Beyond Oasis, Wonder Boy in Monster World, Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle and Vectorman! Capcom is also seeing additional representation with Ghouls 'N Ghosts and Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition. Though the inclusion of Street Fighter 2 comes at a bit of a rub since the american version of the system only includes the original 3 button controller first released on the system. Thankfully our friends at Retro-Bit have the perfect solution in place with the USB version of their amazing Genesis controllers! It still sucks that an extra purchase has to be made to get the best experience out a systems that is marketed as plug and play though… The know list of games is now as follows!
Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
Altered Beast
Beyond Oasis
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
Castlevania: Bloodlines
Comix Zone
Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
Earthworm Jim
Ecco the Dolphin
Ghouls 'N Ghosts
Golden Axe
Gunstar Heroes
Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole
Mega Man: The Wily Wars
Phantasy Star 4
Probotector
Shining Force
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic Spinball
Space Harrier II
Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition
Streets of Rage II
Super Fantasy Zone
Thunder Force III
ToeJam & Earl
Vectorman
Wonder Boy in Monster World
World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck
Needless to say the line-up here is impressive and more than justifies the asking price of $79.99 with many of the included games costing as much by themselves. I am just happy to finally have a real way to get Wily Wars and that Phantasy Star IV is finally getting more love! I do still hope to see the last 2 sonic games be revealed and it would be my dream come true if Dune and X-Men 2 also made the cut. What do you hope will be included in the final 10 games?
