Steam Next Fest Games Worth Trying... And Some That Aren't

Steam Next Fest is back and I played a few different games. I tried to stick to the games that were in trending so that I could give an opinion on the games that might be in the spotlight, here’s what I think of the games that I tried.

Worth It

Turnip Boy Robs A Bank

A sequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, I played Turnip Boy Robs A Bank. Developed by Snoozy Kazoo and published by Graffiti Games, the game was really fun and I would recommend if you are looking for some senseless action with no serious story this game is the perfect time passer. Turnip Boy Robs A Bank is a fun little roguelite where you play as Turnip Boy and get involved with a crime family of pickles and start working bank heists. The demo gets you up to the first boss fight, but it gives you plenty of gameplay to get a good taste. You’ll get thrown into a bank where you’ll shake down customers, break ATM machines, pop vaults, and steal art. You’ll get out of there ASAP, upgrade your stuff and repeat, all while completing side missions. Download the demo for yourself!

Another Crabs Treasure

I am sort of a soulslike hater I guess you could say, that being said I couldn’t help but try out Another Crab’s Treasure. A soulslike game where you play as a hermit crab where you will wear trash as armor to defend yourself. Developed and published by Aggro Crab, this game is hilarious and pretty easy to play. My issue that I’ve had with soulslike is that there’s no story and it’s just ridiculously hard. While this game is difficult when it comes to it’s boss fights, I didn’t find myself as aggrivated fighting the normal enemies. My only issue that I had with this game was that it did have a few lag spikes. But don’t take my word for it, try the demo for yourself.

You’re Not Missing Anything

Chromosome Evil 2

Now I’ve never played the first Chromosome Evil but if it’s anything like Chromosome Evil 2, I won’t be playing it any time soon. Developed and published by 16 Bit Nights, Chromosome Evil 2 is an overhead RTS survival game that plays at a snails pace. I understand that it is an RTS game but there are plenty of RTS games out there that bring fast paced intense gameplay. This one, delivers a slow burning click and point type of feel that you might find in a browser game. You might think I’m being harsh but you can try the demo for yourself.

Booze Masters: Freezing Moonshine

I don’t know what I expected from Booze Masters: Freezing Moonshine, but it certainly wasn’t what I played. The game starts with you driving and talking on a live stream to a fake Russian brand TikTok like you’re some sort of influencer. The voice acting is really upsetting but there’s a big red label across the top saying that these are just temporary voices while they get them professionally done so hopefully that will improve it. But it is painful, from the AI sounding Frosty the snowman to the generic old man voice it’s all a spectacle that makes no sense. Ignoring the voices since they’re not the official ones, the gameplay doesn’t make sense either. I was expecting a Moonshine making simulator but instead you’re a faux paranormal investigator on “TikTok” and then you come to a motel owned by Frosty the Snowman. It was a difficult game to stomach but you can still try it for yourself and download the demo.
