Skydance Interactive revealed Behemoth to the world during The Game Awards 2022 with a very captivating CGI trailer. This story-driven title is planning to launch Fall of 2023 and plans to deliver gameplay similar to Shadow of the Colossus in VR! One of the most promising aspects of this title is the fact that it is being developed by the studio that brought us The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners series, which is considered one of the best VR titles ever made.
This title is aimed at being a single-player VR game that will have players exploring the plague-ravished wasteland of a once glorious empire. The inhabitants have gone crazy and cities have crumbled. Players will also be fighting a multitude of gigantic creatures and battling nightmarish enemies that scour the brutal world in their quest for a possible cure.
Skydance Interactive is planning to bring VR immersion, action, and exploration to the next level in Behemoth with:
Redefined, Brutally Tactile Combat - Players are required to think before attacking as human AI has been leveled up for melee combat where weak points, armor, and technique all matter. Strength is key but conserving energy will need to be accounted for as everything has a price in this unforgiving world.
A Refinement of VR Physics - Traverse the scaling landscape using your hands and/or the grappling hook or use it to rip apart the world around you. Grapple an enemy to gain the tactical advantage or use the surrounding landscape to stealthily eliminate foes.
A Stark, New World - A completely new, unforgiving, yet surprisingly beautiful world to explore and survive in. Players will craft, fight, and endure throughout the world of Behemoth
This game sounds promising and the trailer depicts some epic battles awaiting in Behemoth’s campaign. The comparison to Shadow of the Colossus is giving Skydance Interactive some gigantic shoes to fill but I must say the game looks very intriguing.
Behemoth is currently in development for Meta Quest 2, PlayStation VR 2, and PC with a planned Fall 2023 launch window.
