The Lore Behind Dragonstorm
The storm is here. Tarkir: Dragonstorm picks up in the wake of Dragons of Tarkir, where the plane was ruled by five ruthless Dragonlords. For years, rebels fought to break free from draconic tyranny, but their efforts weren’t enough—until now.
With Ugin gone, off battling the Eldrazi in a different conflict, and the devastating losses dragons suffered during the Phyrexian invasion, the tides finally began to shift. Desperate for victory, the rebellion leaders gathered at the Spirit Dragon’s Nexus and performed a daring ritual. Their call was answered—five spirit dragons emerged, powerful enough to challenge the Dragonlords. But their summoning came with an unforeseen cost: the Dragonstorm, an uncontrollable force birthing wild, untamed dragons into the world.

The chaos didn’t stop at Tarkir. The Dragonstorm’s impact ripped through the Omen Paths, unleashing dragons onto planes unprepared for their fury. From the massive Dragonhawk terrorizing Bloomburrow to the devastating attack at the Aetherdrift Grand Prix, nowhere is safe.
Sensing the growing threat, Elspeth steps in. She tracks the Dragonstorms back to Tarkir, determined to end them before they spiral out of control. There, she finds Narset, now the leader of the Jeskai, fighting to protect her home from the storm’s relentless destruction.
But not everyone wants to see the dragons fall. Sarkhan, forever devoted to draconic rule, stands in their way. He sees the Dragonstorms as Tarkir’s destiny, believing dragons are the plane’s rightful rulers. With an army of newly spawned dragons at his back, he won’t let Elspeth and Narset undo what’s already begun.
The battle lines are drawn. Sarkhan’s dragon horde vs. the Planeswalkers. The fate of Tarkir—and the multiverse—hangs in the balance.
