THE LAST OF US II Gets A New Release Date Following Massive Leaks
If you missed the news somehow, it was revealed that The Last of Us II was going to be delayed indefinitely from its original May 29 release date. Well, it seems that indefinitely delayed comment about The Last of Us II was scarier sounding than the delay actually ended up being as a new release date has just been revealed. For fans eagerly awaiting the game, the new release date has been set for June 19 just a few weeks from its original May 29 date.
Now it is possible that Naughty Dog and Sony didn’t want to release the game this soon as they continued to work on and tweak aspects of it. Instead, this new date may be in direct response to the massive leak of nearly every story aspect of the game that occurred yesterday. Rather than wait and risk more people getting exposed to that info the game will instead be released in its current state. The reasoning is definitely possible but who knows for sure if it is the legit reason or not other than the studios involved.
Regarding the story leaks, Naughty Dog shared the following statement on its official Twitter.
The leaks really suck that they happened as the story aspects of The Last of Us have always been its driving factor. With the whole plot leaked online for less serious buyers to take in, it is sure to negatively impact the sales of the title. As with all leaks, if you want to see them for yourself more power to ya but don’t be a douche and share them with others who might not want to see them. I myself will plan to pick the game up later this year and see how well it turned out for myself and I hope most of you do the same!
