At this past week’s Summer Game Fest event, the show debuted some actual gameplay of Evil Dead: The Game and it has me hyped. The trailer shows off many characters and locations spanning the films and television show that the game is based on. It’s definitely a love letter to the devoted fans that have been eager to get another chance to kill some deadites, Ash style. You’ll get to play as Ash of course, as well as his sister Cheryl, his buddies Pablo and Kelly, and many more.

Going by the gameplay and how it’s structured, I’d compare it to something like the Friday The 13th: The Game from Gun Media. It’s an A-symmetric design where 4 players will play as the beloved heroes whereas one player will get to possess the series’ fiercest foes including Evil Ash from Army of Darkness. His segment is towards the end of the trailer and honestly steals the show.

The map(s) appear to be very sprawling and almost open-world. You’ll be able to drive vehicles and you’ll need to collect pages of the Necronomicon, lost tapes, and artifacts from different areas in order to save the world yet again. This is exactly the approach that I wanted to see Saber Interactive take. I cannot wait to play this game and how it shapes up to deliver on what fans want. Ever since its announcement at The Game Awards, I’ve been dying to see more.

While the video is age-restricted, you can check it out for yourself right here!

Evil Dead: The Game will release in 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
