The latest 5.20 update for Fortnite has arrived for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and iOS versions of the game. Besides the usual introduction of new weapons and several gameplay changes to Battle Royale and Save The World modes, the update also added the latest limited-time event called Steady Storm.
Steady Storm mode will feature a single storm that will continuously close in on the island during the course of the match. In Steady Storm, there will be no safe zones, so players are forced to keep moving and closely monitor the storm on the map to avoid being killed.
Epic Games released more details about Steady Storm on the official website of Fortnite. It wasn’t announced on how long the mode will stay in the game, but history would tell us that it will probably run for about a week before being replaced by a new mode.
Besides the introduction of Steady Storm, Epic also introduced tweaks to Playground mode such as adding a Fill/No Fill option to the mode selector and reverting chest and floor loot to a single weapon spawn, which aims “to cut down on clutter.” Moreover, a new weapon for Battle Royale is added with v5.20 in the form of the Double Barrel Shotgun. This weapon will serve as a powerful close-range weapon that will induce more damage “with each of its 2 shots.” Lastly, Save the World mode received a new hero: Ragnarok, the Dark Viking.
