You might want to run to Hot Topic and grab your Edward and Jacob shirts, ladies. Fathom Entertainment and Lionsgate are teaming up to rerelease The Twilight Saga in theaters from October 29 through November 2.
According to Deadline, all five films from the vampire romance series — Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2 — are returning to theaters marathon to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original Twilight novel written by Stephanie Meyer. The films’ theatrical rerelease is also part of the Fathom Fan Favorites series, as you can see in the trailer below.
Each film will rerelease in theaters on an assigned day. The first Twilight film will come out October 29, New Moon comes out October 30, and so on. Every screening will have new roundtable chats featuring Meyer and the films’ producers, and there will be a nationwide concert tour dedicated to the Twilight soundtrack from September 29 through November 30 to celebrate the book’s milestone anniversary.
“Twilight fans are some of the most passionate anywhere, making this iconic movie franchise the epitome of a modern-day classic, which Fathom Entertainment is thrilled to help bring back to the big screen in this special cinematic engagement,” said Fathom Entertainment CEO Ray Nutt. “With our partners at Lionsgate, we celebrate 20 years since Stephenie Meyer’s first Twilight book was published and encourage fans to relish The Twilight Saga.”
Depending on who you ask, the Twilight films were either peak cinema or downright annoying back in the late 2000s to early 2010s. Nevertheless, the film series helped launch the acting careers of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Anna Kendrick and Nikki Reed, and grossed over $3.3 billion worldwide. If you were skeptical of the Twilight series’ popularity while you were in middle school or high school and are interested in seeing the movies in theaters for the first time, you might want to shut your brain off for the best viewing experience. I may do the same if I decide to do so. I only watched the first Twilight movie on DVD.
