As part of the PlayStation Showcase this week, it was revealed that open world free-to-play RPG Tower Of Fantasy is set to get a full release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. This news comes with the arrival of a new Simulacrum on June 3rd, Dr Rubilia, former head of the Listener Project, and a key part of the Vera story arc.
Developed by Hotta Studio and published by Perfect World and Level Infinite, Tower Of Fantasy is a vast-open world sci-fi RPG, set on the planet Aida.
Humans colonized Aida many years previously and were able to capture a comet to harness the power of the wonderous element, Omnium, inside of it. This was the purpose of the titular Tower Of Fantasy. Unfortunately for the population of Aida, no one was prepared for the fallout of this act of hubris. A few years after its completion an explosion of radiation ripped out of the comet, wiping out much of civilization and progressively mutating the wildlife of Aida into aggressive monstrosities.
Players get a chance to explore the world through continually growing story arcs, and team up with other players in up to four-way co-op.
Combat is a real-time hack-and-slash affair, with a variety of weapons that provide different roles and elemental effects. The most unusual of these are the Simulacra, weapons that carry an echo of their former user and can allow the player to take on the form of that character, and unlock their abilities.
Tower Of Fantasy is set to hit PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 later this Summer. It's also available to download now for Android, iOS, and PC via Steam.
