Horror is a pretty diverse genre with a mixed experience, especially when compared together and which development team is behind the project. Three big upcoming titles that players are looking forward to have just released a free demo to help ease some of the anticipations - or perhaps increase them. If you are looking to kill some time and check out some possible titles to pick up later this year, check out these new game demos.
Layers of Fear (2023)
Originally announced as “Layers of Fears,” Bloober Team and Anshar Studios are remaking the Layers of Fear series in a single collaborative title and including the never-before-experienced story of ‘The Writer.’ All-in-all, this title will feature the original Layers of Fear, Layers of Fear 2, as well as all DLCs (including a new chapter entitled “The Final Note” that provides an alternate perspective on the first game’s storyline).
Layers of Fear (2023) will host its demo from May 15-22 exclusively on Steam. The full release will be this June on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Amnesia: The Bunker
This is a bit of a letdown, but Frictional Games have just announced that they are putting ANOTHER short delay on their upcoming sequel titled Amnesia: The Bunker. Just last week, they confirmed the May 23rd release date with a gameplay drop, but now they are dropping just a playable demo on May 22nd, exclusively on Steam.
Now, Amnesia: The Bunker is set to release on June 6th for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. We’ll see if this changes again before launch, but at least we still get a demo to get some game time in ourselves.
Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle
The sequel title to Daymare: 1998 not only has a release date now, but Invader Studios and Leonardo Interactive are dropping a demo for players to try out the game themselves. Last year, I had a chance to get my own first impression of this sequel title - which you will also find the gameplay of the demo for - last year and this new demo is likely much different than the one I experienced personally. If this is a series you don’t know about, then here is your chance to get to know a worthwhile horror series!
Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is set to release on August 30th for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Until launch, players can play the demo on Steam.
