Ubisoft is well known for diving into history to create compelling stories and interactive experiences. The amount of representation in the AAA space is widely due in part to them, which is a fact that gets poorly overlooked. When they released Assassin’s Creed III, they debuted a Native American protagonist in a video game. That hasn’t been seen in a while. But the dives into non-Eurocentric and East Asian cultures don’t stop there. Ubisoft has also announced a new hero for For Honor, the Ocelotl.
The latest hero, Conquistador Vela, had a backstory that they plundered a Mesoamerican civilization and gained tons of treasure, including the capture of their fiercest warrior. That warrior’s people chase him down and free him, unleashing the warrior, Mixcoatl, on the world of For Honor. His archetype is the Ocelotl and is based on Aztec culture. This archetype dual wields the jagged Macahuitl club and the Tepoztopilli spear. The Ocelotl is the fourth Outlander archetype, joining the Afeera, the Pirate, and the Medjay. The Ocelotl hero will be available on July 27th with an in-game currency purchase opportunity starting on August 10th.
For Honor is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
