We don't know how or when, but Ubisoft has made it clear they will be punishing the recent wave of cheating in The Division. Polygon says a community manager for the game wrote this on the official forum...
We are working on fixing the exploit. Obviously it is against our Code of Conduct and the team is looking into what can be done in terms of punishment for those who have exploited.
Of course, this was met by a wave of anger and outrage from the community. Many players said they felt pressured to use the exploit to keep up with high ranking players (riiight...) while others placed the blame on Ubisoft and their inability to fully fix the game.
I tend to agree with the latter part of the community. If there is an exploit in a game that helps players get an edge, 9/10 times the community will exploit it. Much like when Grand Theft Auto V had it's infinite money glitch, those who abused it to the fullest will have their things stripped and those who did it once or twice will fly under the radar unnoticed. Hell, for all we know, Ubisoft might try to punish players and end up wiping several hundred players accounts like they did last week.
Where do you stand? Should players be punished? Or should Ubisoft work more on patching their game?
