PQube and Kadokawa Games have announced the worldwide release date for Metal Max Xeno: Reborn, a reimagining of their 2018 title, for the 10th of June this year. The latest of a series pioneered by Crea-tech and Data East all the way back in 1991, the Metal Max franchise distinguishes itself from the average JRPG in its use of vehicles as a major and ongoing mechanic.

Taking place in the blasted wasteland that was once Tokyo Bay, Metal Max Xeno: Reborn takes place in a world where the supercomputer NOA has exterminated most of the human race in an apocalyptic war to try and prevent ecological collapse. While NOA was wiped out, its machine creations, the SoNs still seek to carry out its final orders: To exterminate the rest of the human race.

To take the fight to the angry appliances, players will utilize rideable, upgradable tanks and armoured vehicles, encompassing both turn-based and real-time battles. It will be possible to roam the wastes both on foot and inside vehicles.

The game is billed as a ‘reimagining’ rather than a remaster, built from the ground up onto a new engine, with characters added, existing ones redesigned, and a considerable graphical overhaul. Most importantly, Reborn adds a dog named Pochi. He is pettable!

Metal Max Xeno: Reborn is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and PC via Steam on June the 10th.
