Resident Evil 4 VR Mode
Played On: PSVR2
Available: Now
There’s no question that the recent Resident Evil 4 Remake is absolutely stellar. Now, with a VR mode available for PSVR2, the options are even greater to enjoy this blood-soaked masterpiece. While the controls take a bit of practice and patience, the payoff is unreal. This game is fantastic in normal mode and a whole new world in VR mode. It’s polished, it adds a whole new level of immersion to an already extremely atmospheric game and it’s just the cherry on top of an already delicious treat.
If you are looking for even more Resident Evil VR action, Village is also stunning in VR mode. Two for one I say!
Drop Dead: The Cabin - Home Invasion
Played On: Meta Quest 3
Available: Now
Oh man, what a polished piece of fun this is! Regardless of playing solo, with friends, or random peeps online, Drop Dead is a wonderful and delightful recall that reminds me of when COD zombies was actually good! The fact that this looks, runs, and plays so well on Quest native is just a miracle. I had an absolute blast with this game and highly recommend it to anyone looking for some quality fun.
Well there are tons of zombie type experiences on VR and Quest in general, I consider this one of the best with a near-perfect mix of polish and quality design but it doesn’t take itself too seriously either.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners
Played On: Meta Quest 3
Available: Now
Yet another zombie option but don’t let that fool you that this is another cheap knockoff or not worth your while. In fact, it’s the complete opposite. Much more on the visceral and realistic side of the fence a la the TV show, S&S is one of the best and most polished of the realistic side of the zombie VR world. Weapons, combat, graphics etc are all top notch and if you didn’t catch this on PC VR or another platform before, this is the version to get.
I would consider this one of the best looking Meta Quest 3 games to date. Another solid choice and win for anyone who loves solid zombie smashing action or just quality VR games in general.
Not For Broadcast: VR
Played On: PSVR2
Available: Now
Shifting gears completely from the zombie and action genre, this is an entirely different experience that all takes place within a broadcast studio where you may feel a completely different type of stress with viewers and a manager shouting demands while you flip knobs, press buttons to cut to different feeds, commercials, etc. It’s an absolute riot especially with the stellar voice acting with some hilarious, quality writing to boot. Some may find this a little overwhelming but if you are up to the task, it’s a blast.
This is the best (and only) VR game I’ve played in a broadcast studio. An absolute riot with extra points for just the sheer audacity of some of the content. Censor button anyone? :)
Micro Machines: Mini Challenge Mayhem
Played On: Meta Quest 3
Available: Now
Oh man, if I had a game like this as a kid, building flimsy, shaky, and architecturally challenged creations around the house, yard, and bedroom, this would have been a dream! As an adult, who cares?! I’m still having the time of my life! While I was just going to skip past this release, I am sure glad I didn’t. It’s a simple, fun, and very well-designed little VR title that plays and looks great natively on the Quest.
I did have to dock the score a bit for the very odd choice of trying to find the menu options for a while somehow designed to be on the flipside of your left hand. For a simple game, the menu system and starting the action need a revamp. Other than that, this is a fantastic little title!
Bulletstorm: VR
Played On: Steam VR via Meta Quest 3
Available: Now
Last but certainly not least, one of my favorite shooters from yesteryear is now available. While I am absolutely thrilled to finally play the campy, insane, yet totally stellar Bulletstorm in VR, this game needs a few patches before it really shines. The graphics are gorgeous but some of the gun controls leave a little to be desired. Also, on an extremely fast PC, the load times were so long, I thought the game had locked up several times.
This is an awesome game and even cooler in VR but hopefully it can get patched ASAP before I dive game more into the game.
