WARDOGS Passes Two Million in Sales While I Just Keep Getting Sniped

Two million copies sold. In Early Access. Let that land for a second, because plenty of finished, fully marketed, big-budget shooters never get near that number, and WARDOGS has done it while still carrying the "this isn't done yet" label. It's been sitting near the top of the Steam charts and refusing to move, which is the kind of momentum you usually only see when word of mouth takes over and does the marketing for you. I’m not that great at the game so far, more on that in a moment, but I am intrigued by what looks like a generic shooter is way more deep than it seems on the surface.

I should be upfront that my personal experience with it has consisted largely of getting shot by people I never saw. That's not a complaint so much as a description of what this game is. WARDOGS has no interest in being an arcade shooter, and if your reference point is what Call of Duty has turned into over the last decade, adjust your expectations before you load in. Loadouts matter. Gear management matters. Sprinting around a corner into an open area will get you killed, repeatedly, by someone who was patient enough to wait for you. It's demanding in a way that a lot of modern shooters have quietly stopped being, and the audience clearly wanted that more than publishers realized.

Even though my skills are lacking in this game, it’s incredible. Two million buyers pre-1.0 suggests this is going to be a very big deal by the time it actually launches. Worth watching closely, and worth playing now if you can handle the learning curve. I'll be here, getting sniped, having a great time about it.
