Who should you play as first in Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave?
Deciding which route to start with in Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave depends on whose storyline you’re most interested in experiencing. No matter where you are in the story, you are allowed to swap routes and save the progress you’ve made on your current route. Still, here’s a quick overview of each protagonist’s story:
Cai: Growing up in a peaceful farming village, Cai’s life changes forever when his father is imprisoned in Dagsion. Cai decides to join the Heroic Games in hopes of freeing his father from prison. He’ll learn the truth of his father’s arrest while wrestling with the mysterious powers embedded within his palm.
Leda: As a traveling musician, Leda performs with her vihuela. Everything changed when her father was murdered in front of her while she was still a child. Fleeing her destroyed home, she finds a mentor and trains for the Heroic Games to seek revenge on her father’s killer. To do so, she creates a kill list of people she must take down as she pursues the "White-Maned Demon.”
Dietrich: Dietrich hails from Fodlan and wields a Heroes’ Relic called the Answerer. His journey begins when he’s shipwrecked and wakes up on the shores of Dagda. After learning of the Heroic Games, he decides to enter because of his strong thirst for battle.
Theodora: Theodora is a queen of a kingdom who worships a goddess of Death and Night. Hoping to restore her goddess's honor, Theodora leaves her kingdom of Saramis to defend it while dealing with her strange prosthetic arm, which holds cursed abilities.
As you play through one route, you’ll occasionally pass by other protagonists as they go on their journey. You likely won’t understand why certain things are happening to them until you swap to their route, so we recommend playing a few chapters of one protagonist before switching to another.
You could instead finish one route at a time, but you may understand more of each protagonist’s story if you play through them at the same time. Still, it doesn’t matter which route you choose and it all depends on which protagonist you are most interested in.
