I have been saying this for a while now, Wrestling games need to go back to the more over the top arcade-style that made them so much fun back in the early days. As time has gone on the games have focused more on simulation and they haven’t been anywhere near as fun to play. When it was announced that WWE 2K21 wasn’t going to happen this year, the last thing I imagined that would be shown off in its place was WWE 2K Battlegrounds. But, here we are. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a new insanely over the top arcade wrestling/fighting game that will feature the WWE roster of current and old-school stars including John Cena, The Rock, Stone Cold, and Beck Lynch. Before we move on check out the trailer above.
Wow. I am actually pretty excited about this one. It looks ridiculous and that is really appealing! I am not a huge fan of the character models but environments and gameplay look like so much fun. The game is being developed by Saber Interactive and hasn’t had any specific platforms announced for release yet. Though I think it is safe to assume we can expect to see it on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and possibly PS5 and Xbox Series X. This one could possibly come to Switch as well since Saber Interactive has a history of great Switch ports with The Witcher 3! WWE 2K Battlegrounds is slated for release later this year and more info will be sure to follow so keep an eye out here on GT for more.
