Monolith Soft and Nintendo released a new trailer today for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 that revealed the upcoming JRPG has received a new, much earlier release date. Originally intended to release this September, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will now launch for the Nintendo Switch on July 29th, 2022, moving the release date up by over a month.
In addition to the new release date, the trailer revealed a deeper look at the game’s combat, including the Ouroboros forms that connect two characters together to create a powerful, mech-like entity. Different characters form unique Ouroboros, and the trailer shows off several of the different links players will be able to use when the game launches.
New story elements were also introduced, including a better look at the game’s core cast and the fact that the heroes are being hunted by both of the game’s major countries. New antagonists were also shown off, including one character who appears to have an Ouroboros of their own.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 tells the story of two protagonists, Noah and Mio, as they navigate a war between rival nations, Agnus and Keves. While they’re joined by allies from both countries on their journey, they’re also being hunted by agents of the lands they once called home. The game will feature a vast, open-world setting and a story that promises to “connect the futures of Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.”
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on July 29th, 2022.
