It was a little over ten years ago when I was first introduced to the 2D cartoon style, action RPG adventure known as MapleStory. With a surprisingly large fan base, this massive multiplayer online (MMO) title was quickly known by many PC gamers. It seems the games popularity has far from died out as Nexon announced an upcoming sequel, a MapleStory 2! Check out the official trailer and new designs:
While it seems that there will be areas that maintain the original 2D style, they are taking players into a whole new style featuring a 3D world to explore. They are keeping to the cartoon design of the world, but expanding it to allow players to see much more than they have before!
MapleStory 2 hasn't been given an official release date yet, but they are currently allowing players to sign up for the closed beta scheduled for May 9th and will end on the 16th. It's always great to see a game reach a community to the point that they are providing updates and new games years after initial launch.
