As RPGs of the past did to pad out their bestiaries, the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh (which takes much inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons) were filled with counterpart monsters to further expand the card pool from the hundreds to the thousands. Between Thunder Kid and Electric Lizard, Dark Elf and Mystical Elf, Needle Worm and Larvae Moth, this list is vast and expansive. Some are blatantly obvious, some are less obvious!
In the most recent video by MrTopTenList, Mr. T, Judgement Meter, and myself go over some of the most notable counterparts from the first few years of the Yu-Gi-Oh OCG/TCG. This video uses footage from the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship games for Game Boy Advance.
