War of the Dead
See that above? That’s a split-second screengrab of a Nazi Zombie getting smashed by a runaway locomotive from Rebellion’s ZOMBIE ARMY 4: DEAD WAR and boy oh boy is it a bloody good time. The folks at Rebellion are masters of their trade when it comes to blasting Nazi scum through their SNIPER ELITE series to the zombie bashing goodness of Zombie Army or in this case, blasting NZS (Nazi Zombie Scum). So, while new major new ground has been broken with the fourth entry in the series, it is a satisfying blast of blood, guts and solo or co-op madness.
C-C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
The most fun and unique part of killing said NZS is a very dynamic and forgiving combo system. Instead of having to rack up zombie kills in a split second, you have several seconds between kills to keep the chain going. At first, it seems like too much time but when those crazy numbers start popping through sniper shots, shotgun blasts and huge ‘nade explosions, it’s truly a riot. The game is stunning on PC with a whole plethora of graphics settings to play with. Most importantly though, the game and gunplay is smooth, powerful, and ultimately, extremely satisfying.
Lastly, whether you are playing solo or with a friend, the game proves to be a solid and mindless blood n’ guts fest that will put a smile on any fan of the genre’s face. More coverage to come but so far, we’ve have a bloody good time..
