Marvel Rivals is a game brimming with endless potential, thanks to the sheer number of Marvel characters—far too many to count! From unique heroes and villains to iconic characters with countless versions (looking at you, Spider-Man), the possibilities are virtually limitless. Naturally, with a game like Marvel Rivals, fans can’t help but dream about seeing their favorite characters on the roster. Here are 10 characters I believe would either make great additions or simply be a lot of fun to include.
Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider, or Johnny Blaze, the stunt driving Motorcyclist that sold his soul to Satan to save his foster father. Do I even need to explain why Ghost Rider would be tons of fun? With his motorcycle, his supernatural abilities, and his visual appeal Ghost Rider would easily become a top picked character.
I think Ghost Rider would fit into the game as a Vanguard/Duelist kind of hybrid. With his chains and firey attacks he could fit into a DPS role but I think it would be a cool concept to use his chains and fire as an area controlling tank. A potential ultimate ability could summon his motorcycle, giving him a burst of speed and increased damage, perfect for high-impact engagements or quick repositioning.
Nightcrawler
Tracer, boom, done. Nightcrawler could basically just be a melee form of tracer. I know that Starlord sort of takes that role already but with his speed bursts, but I think Nightcrawler could make an intense movement based Duelist, an assassin type. He could teleport around enemies, landing quick, precise hits while staying just out of reach. And his kit could balance his elusiveness with a requirement to get dangerously close, leaving him vulnerable to counters.
Since Nightcrawler has the ability to teleport objects and people he is touching. An interesting ult mechanic or even an ability with a high recharge could let him teleport an ally in danger to safety. Maybe a quick teleport from his location and back. This would make him an Assassin-like DPS with some support abilities.
Gambit
Woooo! He’s about to make a name for himself here! I mean, characters that are big in pop culture right now are an easy pick so I really don’t think I need to explain Gambit, but I will anyways. Gambit would make a great two way Duelist. With his Bo Staff he’s equipped for a melee range fight and with his energy charged cards he’s also perfectly equipped to tick some damage at a distance.
His double layered kit would work great on the Marvel Rivals roster. Being able to deal damage with his Bojutsu and just as you’re trying to escape for some health a burst of kinetically charged playing cards to take your last bit of your health bar.
Brother Voodoo
Brother Voodoo is a lesser-known but fascinating character with a deep connection to the spiritual world. His abilities revolve around mystical powers, including hypnosis, spirit summoning, and control over smaller life forms. This could translate into a Strategist/Support role in Marvel Rivals, focusing on buffs, debuffs, and area control.
A compelling mechanic could involve “hypnotizing” low-health enemies, temporarily disabling their abilities or forcing them to retreat. Another idea might be summoning his brother’s ghost as a temporary ally or deploying fear-inducing effects that disrupt enemy movements. His ultimate could involve a massive area debuff, turning the tide of battle by weakening or disorienting foes.
Cosmo the Spacedog
They’ve already sort of reached this realm with Jeff the Landshark so why not give us another four legged friend with Cosmo the Spacedog. His telekinetic powers would make him a unique controller-focused support character, offering a fresh take on battlefield manipulation. Rather than healing, Cosmo could shine by applying buffs to allies and debuffs to enemies through clever manipulation of shields and equipment. His witty banter and telepathic dialogue could bring humor and personality to every match, making him a fan favorite among strategists.
Cyclops
Cyclops is one of the most recognizable X-Men, and his precision-based optic blasts naturally position him as a long-ranged Duelist. His abilities could highlight his control over the intensity and spread of his blasts—small, focused beams for consistent damage and larger bursts for area effects. While his kit might initially feel similar to Iron Man's, his tactical mindset could differentiate him, introducing mechanics like strategic targeting or team-focused buffs, reflecting his role as a leader.
Electro
Electro's electrifying power makes him an excellent Area-Control Duelist. His attacks could focus on creating electrified zones, chaining lightning to multiple enemies, and unleashing bursts of high damage in close quarters. He'd excel at disrupting groups of opponents and punishing anyone who lingers too long in his vicinity. With chaotic visuals and unpredictable power surges, Electro would be a high-risk, high-reward character that keeps enemies constantly on edge.
Werewolf by Night
I kind of just wanted to add this character because I think it’s an extremely underrated series. But, Werewolf by Night’s feral power and durability make him a natural hybrid Duelist/Tank. He’d thrive in close-range combat, dealing heavy melee damage while sustaining himself with a regenerative ability. His gameplay could include feral leaps to close gaps and a transformation mechanic that enhances his damage and resilience temporarily.
Quicksilver
Quicksilver’s unmatched speed would make him the ultimate Objective Specialist Duelist. His kit could focus on capturing points, delivering items, or harassing enemies with hit-and-run attacks. By adding visual clones or illusions created through his rapid movement, Quicksilver could confuse enemies and dominate skirmishes. His ultimate might unleash a time-warping speed burst, allowing him to execute high-speed combos or evade entire teams with ease.
Man-Thing
I already main tanks, so if they ever added this character I would have a new instant main. Man-Thing’s swampy presence and fear-inducing abilities make him a compelling Vanguard. He could absorb massive amounts of damage while using toxic zones and fear-based debuffs to disrupt enemy formations. His gameplay would focus on area denial and psychological pressure, forcing opponents into unfavorable positions. While comparisons to Groot may arise, Man-Thing could differentiate himself with more aggressive and fear-driven mechanics, emphasizing his eerie and unsettling nature.
