Adjust FOV, Lock-On to Enemies and Dodge in Dragon’s Dogma 2 Using These Mods
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of our favorite releases of the year, but it isn’t without its issues. The performance for one, isn’t great on PC or consoles, and while there are plenty of in-game settings to adjust, it’s not perfect. What’s more, people unaccustomed to the game’s camera mechanics can feel a bit out of place. Thankfully, there are plenty of mods to try out that can improve the already excellent experience.
Required Tools - REFramework
First, to make sure everything works nicely, you need to set up REFramework. This handy utility from a renowned modder, praydog works wonders for RE Engine titles, allowing players to adjust additional aspects of the presentation including the camera, FOV, vignette, and more.
First, head over to the following GitHub link, and click on the DD2 under Assets
This will download a zip file, which you can extract using Winrar or 7zip
You only need the dinput8.dll file, which you need to place in the game’s directory
steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2
It should look like this
Now that we have REFramework set up, we can adjust the FOV.
Adjust FOV
There isn’t a traditional “Field of View” setting in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and the “Camera Distance” setting only does so much. Thankfully, using REFramework, you can pull out the camera, or zoom in as much as you’d like.
Launch Dragon’s Dogma 2, and the REframework window will automatically pop up. You can hide or bring it back by pressing the Ins key
In the Window, click on the Camera dropdown, and check Use Custom Global FOV
You can adjust the value to your liking, and the game will dynamically change the FOV as you do so. Here is a screenshot with increased FOV.
You can always revert back to the default FOV by unchecking the “Use Custom Global FOV” option under Camera
Lock-On and Dodge
Additionally, if you want to lock on to enemies, and dodge as well, similar to something like Dark Souls and Elden Ring. This script by alphaZomega has you covered. This also requires REFramework so make sure you have set that up.
To use it, follow the steps below.
First, we need to install ScriptCore to use mods with REFramework
Head over to the following NexusMods page (Sign up as well)
Download the mod file by clicking on “Manual Download”
Extract the zip file, and place its "reframework" folder into your game folder, overwriting as needed
Now, head over to the following link, and click on “Manual Download”, this time to download the required files for the lock-on and dodge mod
Similarly, place the "reframework" folder from this mod into the main directory, and overwrite files as needed
That’s all you need to do, and the mod will be enabled by default.
By default, you can now lock on to enemies by pressing the right stick, switch between enemies by moving the thumbstick, and dodge by double-tapping the run button (B on Xbox controller).
