After denying back in March and two weeks ago that they were going to do this, Nintendo has announced via its Japanese site that the Wii-U will cease production. Kotaku noticed this picture which has the following text that translates to "Production is scheduled to end soon" underneath shop icons for the console...
I can understand denying the rumor in March to prevent shareholders from panicking, but what was the point in denying the leaks post Switch announcement? Kind of silly for the company to attempt to control the spin on what will likely have an insignificant effect on their share price.
So just a future reminder to anyone reading this, the next time Nintendo denies a leak that sounds very likely, remember they lie!
