Amazon Games Announces New Free-To-Play MOBA March of Giants

Amazon Games revealed that a new free-to-play 4v4 war MOBA called March of Giants is in early development for PC — and a Closed Alpha test is around the corner.

March of Giants is the debut title from Amazon Games Montreal. It’s set in an urban battlefield filled with science and magic, while being surrounded by a world of technology from the early 1900s.

Players in the United States, Canada, and Mexico who are intrigued by this premise can request access on Steam to participate in a closed playtest. Amazon Games is running the Closed Alpha from September 2-10, granting players the chance to command thousands of soldiers in battle in this strategic, competitive game.

“March of Giants represents our vision to bring the epic scale of war to the MOBA genre,” said Xavier Marquis, Creative Director at Amazon Games Montreal, in a press release.

“We wanted to create something that captures the strategic depth of traditional MOBAs while introducing innovative mechanics that let players command massive armies and deploy tactical structures on the battlefield. This has been a passion project for our team for years, and we're thrilled to finally share it with players.”

Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Games, also hopes this game will bring a “fresh perspective to the MOBA genre.” The team hopes to gather player feedback during the Closed Alpha and test core gameplay elements, as well as the game’s technical stability.

“The team's passion and experience in creating innovative competitive games is evident in what they've built so far,” said Hartmann.

Some of March of Giants’ unique features include being in the shoes of a Giant, allowing you to dominate the frontlines as a fearsome war commander who garners unique abilities. You’ll also be able to lead your groups of soldiers to crush enemy lines while you strategize by building battleworks and outsmarting opponents with tactical structures to defend your own towers.

During the Closed Alpha, players will have a choice between 15 Giants, each with their own unique abilities. While everyone will start with 10 Giants, the rest can be unlocked by progressing through the game.
