Untouched by civilization for thousands of years, Ashes Of Creation is set in a fallen fantasy world where you will be able to build, populate and discover. The world is ever-changing with ruins, beasts, and cities that rise and fall depending on the choices of players. The game is one of the most anticipated MMORPG’s of the last few years and could possibly redefine the genre. It’s being developed and published by Intrepid Studios.
Over a Livestream, they revealed many things being worked on for Ashes Of Creation such as combat, mechanics, art, and even a new race. They explained how they're changing castle sieges and node sieges to counter zergs(large groups rushing the map) they're planning on having smaller instanced battles that will contribute to the overall siege, one group versus another group. This will be very beneficial for smaller groups that don’t have the numbers to fight in the full-on open world. It’s not fully fleshed out so they didn't reveal many details on it, but they're planning on releasing prototypes within a few months so we’ll be able to get a better look soon.
We got to see how the dynamic road tech simulation will work with node influence. The road starts off as a dirt path, as the node in the area levels up the road will slowly become more and more advanced such as cobblestone, brick, and eventually pavement. It’s not only a visual change, as the advancing roads will also increase the speed caravans and other vehicles can travel on it.
Intrepid Studios have a very ambitious goal to have the most detailed character creator of any MMORPG, although not much has been shown yet. They will show a work in progress version of it around the end of February so they can gather feedback from the community. A lot of environment art was shown off, mostly boats, siege walls, random props like coffee tables, lighting fixtures, and fountains.
A new race was announced, the Vek, a sub-species of Orc. They focus on the stars, and how they could extract the best uses out of the essence and be predictive of the future. They have many similarities to traditional elves and Orcs, and they revealed a few pictures of different variants that they hope will be customizable options in the future.
Intrepid Studios has announced that they have brought the game into Unreal Engine 5, which will allow them to improve the game's visuals and animations easier. They’re also continuing to hire more developers to help build the ambitious title. Ashes Of Creation doesn't have a concrete release date just yet, but it does have alpha tests, the last one finished in 2021 and no date just yet on the next alpha.
