Atari's Infogrames Aquires SURGEON SIMULATOR Franchise

Infogrames, the game publishing and distribution arm of Atari, has just announced a major new acquisition. They've snagged the rights to the wildly popular Surgeon Simulator franchise from tinyBuild Inc. This iconic series has made waves with its blend of first-person surgical antics, life-saving drama, and darkly humorous scenarios set in the most unexpected locations—from moving ambulances to hospital hallways and even zero-gravity space!

The hilarity and chaos of Surgeon Simulator first hit the gaming world in 2013, launching on PC and Mac. The original game was such a hit that it quickly saw updates, mobile ports, and a PlayStation 4 version in 2014. In 2016, Surgeon Simulator VR: Meet The Medic brought the franchise into the immersive world of virtual reality on PlayStation 4 and Windows. Not stopping there, the surgeons hit the Nintendo Switch in 2018 with Surgeon Simulator CPR. The franchise then upped the ante with Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas, a completely new sequel featuring four-player online co-op, which launched on PC in 2020 and Xbox in 2021.

This acquisition marks the second time Infogrames has added a casual multiplayer simulation to its roster this year. Back in April 2024, they acquired Totally Reliable Delivery Service, a game known for its wacky delivery missions and chaotic fun.

Infogrames is planning to take the Surgeon Simulator franchise to new heights, expanding distribution and potentially developing fresh titles or additional content. They are also eyeing brand and merchandising collaborations, aiming to preserve and grow this beloved franchise.
