After a short launch delay, WayForward and Arc System Works are back with big news for the series return title River City Girls 2! This long-awaited sequel has an official release date and it is happening this week. Looking to improve on the overall experience that the original titles brought, this new game features six playable characters, online gameplay, a deep combat system, character-specific voice overs, a massive nonlinear game world, and RPG-like character growth.
Picking up right after 2019’s River City Girls storyline, newcomers Marian (from the Double Dragon series) and Provie (from River City Ransom: Underground) join the returning playable cast of Misako, Kyoko, Kunio, and Riki as they set forth on a sprawling adventure that takes them from one end of town to the other while battling the Sanwakai criminal syndicate that’s thrown River City into chaos. Players can also expect new weapons, interactive environments filled with destructible objects, loads of side quests, more than 40 shops overflowing with items and accessories, and powerful hired heavies that will assist players in battle.
Crime lord Sabu breaks out of prison to avenge his daughter Sabuko's humiliating defeat at the hands of Misako and Kyoko. He immediately seizes control of River City and makes life miserable for the heroines, kicking them out of school and turning the town into a lawless battle zone. Sabu's efforts to restore his family name are aided by his snarky adopted son Ken and an army of underworld hoodlums led by tech expert Tsuiko, strength-enhancing chef Primo, and magic-wielding witch Blaire. Sabu's dominance is all but assured.
River City Girls 2 is set to launch on December 15th for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Are you ready to humble Sabu and teach him a lesson?
