Best Starting Weapon In Mina the Hollower

While there are five unique weapons in total, Mina the Hollower starts you off with three different options. You’ll get the chance to use all of them the further you get into this 2D action platformer, but when you’re delving into the first few hours of this game, you’ll be stuck with one weapon for a bit and should get used to it. Don’t be overwhelmed, though. Here is some advice on how to pick the best starting weapon for you in Mina the Hollower.

What is the best starting weapon in Mina the Hollower?

Choosing the weapon to start your adventure with in Mina the Hollower all depends on your playstyle, but we recommend you try out Nightstar before moving on to other weapons. Nightstar is not only Mina’s signature weapon, but it is also the most versatile and balanced for any playstyle.

This flail can swipe enemies from a decent distance, giving you enough space from the enemy to not take contact damage. It may not be as quick as the daggers Whisper & Vesper, but it’s less risky than using the Blackstrike Maul and is all around a great weapon to start with.

Otherwise, if you’re looking for faster attacks at close range, go for Whisper & Vesper. These daggers allow you to play aggressively, but still allow you to dip out of danger quickly if the enemy gets too close. I didn’t pick them for the best starter weapon because I found the flail easier to keep a distance from enemies at the beginning, when Mina lacks any defensive upgrades.

On the other hand, you can go for the Blackstrike Maul if you prefer heavy attacks with the high risk of having to wait and charge up the weapon first. It holds much more power than its counterparts and gives Mina the ability to perform a quick tactical roll while charging. The Blackstrike Maul is for players who enjoy a slower but high-risk, high-reward combat style, so it may not be the best one to start with.

Mina the Hollower is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
