During Day 1 of this year’s Summer Game Fest, Activision brought the thunder with a fresh new gameplay snippet from the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Titled “Operation Dark Water”, this mission starts out on a gigantic oil rig where the mission is carried out stealthfully and then transitions to a firefight aboard a freighter ship. With Task Force 141 at its best, this gameplay video highlights some fantastic gunplay and the dynamic nature of how Infinity Ward is tackling this entry’s campaign, as cargo containers slide back and forth with the ship’s motion.
Though there wasn’t much more information given about this title aside from some re-iteration of the info that had been given yesterday, it’s safe to say that this title is on track to tick the boxes that fans are eager for. Between the strong realization of Task Force 141, these gigantic set-pieces, dynamic elements strewn about the levels, and the most refined gunplay to date, there is no reason why this game should fail.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to release on October 28 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Battle.net and Steam).
