Currently, developer CD Projekt Red still has their hands full with the development of Cyberpunk 2077. However, fans of The Witcher are still wondering whether the studio will continue the series in the foreseeable future.
The CEO of CD Projekt Red, Adam Kicinski, recently spoke with a Polish financial website called Banker (via PCGamesN) and talked about the likelihood of a new Witcher game. Although Kicinski did not disclose a timeframe, he stated that the studio concluded the first three games with The Witcher 3. However, this does not mean that the series has ended. Instead, the next game on the franchise may just not be called The Witcher 4. He went on and said that The Witcher series is "one of two franchises" that CD Projekt Red will continue to develop in the future.
Kicinski did not give a timeline on when this next game will commence development, which is understandable at this point as the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is yet to be revealed. However, Geralt's voice actor, Doug Cockle, shared his thoughts a few days ago that if the studio develops a sequel to The Witcher 3, he wanted to see the game focus on Ciri instead of Geralt, the trilogy's main protagonist.
Are you excited to see another Witcher game in the future? How do you think CD Projekt Red will approach this game in the future?
