Last year, we got the original announcement that Red Barrels was working on a multiplayer version for their Outlast series. This game is called The Outlast Trials and during Gamescom 2021 they revealed a gameplay trailer! The thing is, this trailer seems to show off a lot of death scenes, so I’m curious at how difficult they plan on making this experience or if they just wanted to make a gruesome highlight reel.
The trials will take place during the Cold War era, where players take on the role of test subjects abducted by the shadowy Murkoff Corporation. Imprisoned in a secret Murkoff facility, players will be thrust into a series of physical and mental ordeals, tormented by iconic characters, and challenged alone or in teams to survive with their sanity intact.
We are still waiting on an official release date and platform list for The Outlast Trials, but we do have confirmation it will be out in 2022 and on PC as there is both a Steam and Epic Games page set up already.
