PlayStation console exclusive, Sifu, is launching in just a few days and a frantic live-action trailer has just been released to turn up the hype. The developers at Sloclap have partnered with director Christopher Clark Cowan to create this live-action martial art short film. Sifu is a third-person action game that will feature hand-to-hand combat as you take control of a Kung-Fu student on a path of revenge.
The trailer sheds some light on the main character by giving us an explanation for his thirst for vengeance. The main baddie, Fajar, is responsible for killing the protagonist’s family and thus he now wants to seek revenge on his own terms. Although the story seems very basic, the martial arts displayed in this live-action trailer is top-notch. The main character is seen fighting multiple enemies at a time, with choreography rivaling that of big blockbuster films. Many viewers in the comments were impressed with the fighting choreography and some even deemed the short film deserving its own series.
The short film also depicts the unique feature of Sifu in which the main character gradually ages every time you die. It is still unknown how this will impact the gameplay or if this is just an aesthetic feature, but it is supposed to signify the lessons you have learned along your journey to a perfect run.
You can pre-order the Deluxe Edition now for early access to the game starting February 6th. Sifu launches on February 8th for PS4, PS5, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
