China Is Getting A New CALL OF DUTY Mobile Game

It appears that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is not the only new entry in the franchise that is currently in development. Activision recently announced a newfound partnership with the Chinese company Tencent, to develop a new Call of Duty mobile game for China.

Details regarding the upcoming mobile version of Call of Duty is scarce at the moment. However, Activision revealed that it would be an “original game,” suggesting that this project will not be a port of an existing game in the franchise. Moreover, the studio promised that while it will be a new game, players can still expect characters, maps, modes, and weapons that fans of the series are familiar with.

In a press release, Call of Duty executive Rob Kostich stated that:

“We’re working closely with one of Tencent’s top mobile studios, Timi, to help develop a fun and original Call of Duty experience that delivers superb gameplay and mechanics to mobile players. Call of Duty has been the leading first-person action experience around the globe for years and seeing that come to life on a mobile platform has been really exciting. We can’t wait for fans to play.”

It is worth remembering that this project is not the first mobile Call of Duty mobile game. Activision has previously released a title called Call of Duty: Heroes, which is a real-time strategy game featuring well-known characters in the franchise.

Currently, neither Activision nor Tencent released information on when the game will be released in China or if the game will be launched worldwide eventually.
