Stormy weather ahead, Eremite Games’ randomized city-builder Against The Storm will be officially entering Steam's Early Access on the first of November
Published by Hooded Horse, the game takes the concept of a rogue-lite and applies it to the establishment of settlements. In a world that is regularly battered by catastrophic storms, the player takes the role of a Viceroy, head of resource-finding expeditions, appointed by the enigmatic Scorched Queen.
A Viceroy must venture out into the wilderness and establish self-sufficient villages that are able to send things back to the Smouldering City. Each attempt will be different. Varying biomes will make certain resources bountiful or scarce, and each glade reveals a new prize or threat, sometimes both.
Ensuring the fledgling village thrives is a matter of managing resources, building the right facilities, keeping the settlers happy, and dealing with potential threats. If villagers become too disheartened, they will flee back to civilization. Throughout this, a player must keep one eye on orders from the Scorched Queen, she doesn't like to be kept waiting, and attracting her ire will also bring an end to the venture.
Against The Storm's demo can be downloaded via Steam, and the Early Access version will be available for purchase on the platform from November 1st.
