Creepy Nuts Song "Get Higher" Featured As Ending Theme for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Anime music is making its way to the Sonic games. Creepy Nuts, the Japanese hip-hop duo behind the famous DanDaDan opening theme “Otonoke,” is contributing its single “Get Higher” as an ending theme for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

Fans are reacting to the news on X, formerly Twitter, to the news that Creepy Nuts contributed their song to the upcoming Sonic racing game. The duo didn’t produce “Get Higher” for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds per se; it originated from their latest album Legion, which released on February 5, 2025. “Get Higher” is also featured in the jukebox where you can choose for the song to play during the first, second, or third lap of the race.

“Get Higher” by Creepy Nuts is the second song by a Japanese group to be featured in a Sonic game after ONE OK ROCK contributed “Vandalize” as the main theme for Sonic Frontiers in 2022. Sonic X Shadow Generations also got some music from TeddyLoid, who composed the music for Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt.

The inclusion of a Japanese song in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds feels reminiscent of the ending themes for the English sub of Sonic X, which are superior to theme in the English dub — at least to the hardcore Sonic fans. If a Sonic game can have a Japanese song for all audiences, then there should be a new Sonic anime with Japanese themes accessible to fans all over the world, localization regulations be damned.
