Estate Of Late 90s Psychic Miss Cleo Suing Rockstar Over GRAND THEFT AUTO VICE CITY

The Estate of Miss Cleo aka The Psychic Readers Network is suing Rockstar Games for what they consider the illegal use of their character in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Get a quick reminder of who Auntie Poulet is and see a Miss Cleo ad after that and continue on for more:

Poulet gives Tommy Vercetti mind-altering voodoo potions to get him to cooperate in the missions she wants him to undertake. This includes acting against the Cubans, with whom he has friendly relations. However, when the potion's effects wear off, Tommy shows no memory of what he has done for the Haitians.

Those of you currently thinking "Yeah, there are a lot of similarities between the two," you're right as Miss Cleo actress Youree Harris was actually hired to do the voice of Auntie Poulet! This is where the situation gets tricky as Harris (who passed away from colorectal cancer last year) was just an actress portraying a character made by The Psychic Readers Network, she had no claim to the character. So what we really have here is her former company filing suit (a little beyond a year after her death) towards Rockstar over a portrayal of a game that is currently 15 years old.

There's no clear reason why all this is happening just now, but we'll keep you updated if the situation gets any deeper.
