How does There Are No Ghosts at the Grand’s gameplay work?
There Are No Ghosts at the Grand is an action-adventure simulation game in which players are tasked with renovating the Grand Hotel. During the day, provided tools such as a sandblaster, a paint sprayer, and a furniture cannon, among others, will help you restore the hotel to its former glory.
During the night, however, these tools will act as your weapons, as you will need to face the ghosts that, contrary to what the title suggests, are in fact at the Grand Hotel.
This search for truth and survival will lead the protagonist to renovate other buildings in the surrounding village, which will uncover other secrets as well as activities. These include riding a scooter, playing mini-golf, fishing boat exploration, and photo snapping.
The game is also a musical, as new characters you meet during your playthrough will sing their song with a setlist filled with every genre imaginable.
What is the plot and setting of There Are No Ghosts at the Grand?
The protagonist, Chris David, inherits the Grand Hotel that is long past its former glory. During his renovation journey, players will unveil hidden secrets from the townsfolk and the history of the hotel.
Over the span of 30 days and 30 nights, players will attempt to thrive in this cycle before the protagonist is irreversibly claimed by an entity that, given the game’s presentation, might as well be a Lovecraftian monster. With each passing day, its grasp will grow tighter and tighter, constantly raising the stakes and making the journey into the unknown much more thrilling.
And there’s a talking cat, too.
