After an original concept video was posted back in 2017, Explosm Entertainment was able to open a Kickstarter for their first game in a planned “tragilogy” (trilogy of tragedy) in which players will get to experience and interact with the crazy world of Cyanide & Happiness. To do this, they opened a game development branch, Explosm Games, teamed up with developer team Skeleton Crew Studios and partnered with publisher Serenity Forge. This partnership and successful Kickstarter officially bring us Cyanide & Happiness: Freakpocalypse and it is set to launch on both PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch on March 11th!
In this first game of their series, players follow the adventures of Cooper “Coop” McCarthy, as he does normal high school things, like trying to find a prom date and doing his best to avoid getting killed by bullies all while trying not to trigger an apocalyptic event. As this is going to be a point-and-click adventure where players have control over what happens and which choices are made, we are naturally going to see some not-so-smart actions taken and more than likely some pretty messed up moments.
Pre-orders are going to open on March 4th and the week the game launches they will be hosting a 10% off sale. While we are still waiting on an official trailer, they have given us a “Welcome to Netherton” video to properly introduce us to their game for now. Honestly, I don’t need an official trailer to say that I’m pretty excited to get the chance to interact with this comical world!
