FlexiSpot E7 Pro Series Standing Desk Review: Simplistic, Functional, And Sensible

Product Provided by FlexiSpot

One of the main things needed when getting your gaming or home office setup together is a proper desk. While it seems like many desks are similar in design, there are minute differences that just make each desk stand out on its own. One of the leading teams when it comes to standing desks is FlexiSpot which has multiple different types of desks to choose from. Among their list is the E7 Pro Series Standing Desks which comes with its own list of stand and desktop color options. But how fitting is it for your setup?

What’s In The Box

These desks actually come in two different boxes. One is for the legs and the other is for the desktop itself. The box with the desktop solely holds the chosen top of the desk and is part of the final steps when putting the desk together. In the box with the legs, they include the instructions and the parts you need to put it together, including a tiny alan wrench. However, they don’t include a screwdriver and you will want to have one of those on hand as well. I used a power drill myself.

Be ready for a bit of hefty lifting due to each leg of the desk being pretty heavy. You’ll be putting the desk together upside down mostly, even when you put it on the desktop. The final step of the process is to put on the cord cover in the middle, which has two ways to be put on. Thing is, neither side is really well described, but the way I did it is by having the middle screws hold the cover in place by squeezing it in the middle of the set.

Aesthetics and Build Quality

Since you can pick the desktop you want, including the overall length of the table, it will look as good as you appreciate the material you chose to go with. I went with a nice bamboo top with solid black legs, making for a clean design that fits with my home’s overall design. The table came in great condition and I didn’t see any issues with it, likely thanks to how secure the shipping style is where thick rubber-like corner holders kept it in place. I was concerned about the wires when I saw how empty the under-the-table area is, but the cover does a great job of keeping it together. Plus, the inside of the area where the cord cover is has so much room with multiple openings to slide cables through making it plausible to be used to control any gamer or cord-heavy device built for this desk.

When it comes down to judging the quality of anything that has to be built together, it comes down to the parts that make it up. They definitely went with some good-quality screws for the included items to put the desk together too. The length of a screw is part of the quality aspect and they all seemed to be just as long as possible without bleeding through the area it is used in - especially the screws that hold the legs to the desk itself. The same good-quality grade is used for the parts that help hold each individual piece together as well. They have a bracket that makes it so the bar connected to the leg evenly distributes the weight held by each side. There is the option to have a middle leg and back leg desk, so I can’t speak for the back leg desks but middle leg desks are designed to be used from all sides with the same level of secure sturdiness.

Specs and Features

Here are some of the main factors that the E7 Pro Series boast:

  • Built with thicker leg columns

  • Base structure uses solid carbon steel, which has reached automotive-material grade, for a durable and sturdy experience

  • Sturdy, Stable, and Steady at every angle including while moving and/or in-use, such as typing on a keyboard, making a wobble-free experience

  • Holeless leg design with a sleek appearance and durability

  • Ready to hold up to 335lbs

  • Height ranges from 22.8” to 48.4” with all minor adjustment scales available

  • Width ranges from 47.2” to 80” desktops with an adjustable base during the building process

Along with the hardset aspects of the desk, you are also provided a control panel to handle the desk as you see fit. For this one, they have a simple panel with the base controls on the left of the LED screen and the memory slots on the right. It is pretty self-explanatory and that down arrow moves the desk down and the up arrow moves the desk up, but the memory slots have a standing figure, a sitting figure, a 1, and a 2. These all function the same way and they just give an image form to what it can remember. I use this to use the 1 and standing figure for my standing height and my wife’s standing height while 2 and the sitting figure are for my sitting height and my wife’s sitting height. Having four presets is the perfect amount for a shared office space, like ours. Plus, it is nice that the USB slot on the side of the control panel is perfectly good at charging a phone.

What It Could Have Done Better

When it comes to putting the desk together, the instructions were pretty good at guiding me through the process, but when it came to putting the desktop on the legs, it was a bit difficult. They did have marked areas for where the screws are supposed to go in, but they didn’t work as well as a starting hole for the screw as I hoped. This is why I used my power drill to finish off the building process as it made it easier to get the screws into the desk. This could be a size between the hole and the screw issue, but it was easy to work around since I already had the tool to do so.

I thought it was strange that they put the control panel troubleshooting instructions on the desk. In the image at the top of the review, you can see that they put the instructions on a clear background sticker that is placed on the desk in one of the suggested spots to put the control panel on. I removed it slowly and without damaging the desk and simply put it on a blank piece of printer paper for when I need it. It should simply come in on a piece of paper in the first place as the stickiness can damage the surface of the desk while peeling it off.

Verdict

The E7 Pro Series Standing Desk is definitely one of FlexiSpot’s best desk options available! The range of options you have to choose from when it comes to length and style for a desk that is sturdy and stable all around. While they still offer earlier desks in the series, such as the E1 and E5, the aspects that make this desk stand out from the rest are reason enough alone to choose the E7 for your gaming or office space. If you are looking for a desk that is rather simple to put together and worth its weight, then this is the one you should put on the top of your considerations list.

The E7 Pro Series Standing Desk is available now on the FlexiSpot website.
