Last year, I had the chance to test out FlexiSpot’s Pro Standing Desk and was pretty impressed with how the product was executed. Though I had some gripes with the quality control when it came to what was sent out, the desk was overall fantastic. This time around, QA worries are subverted, allowing the brand-new Pro Plus Standing Desk (E7) to stand out as a top standing desk in its market.
What’s in the Box
FlexiSpot does a great job at giving users a lot of options when it comes to how they want to put together their desks. There are different desktops with various materials and colors, sizes, frame colors, and even keypads. For me, I was sent a 55” x 28” white chipboard desktop, a black frame, and the new premium keypad with touch controls, plus any needed hardware such as screws and an Allen wrench.
Aesthetics and Build Quality
Though your mileage may vary depending on what pieces you put together when ordering, the various colors and patterns of desktops and frames by FlexiSpot are fantastic. There’s really something for everyone here whilst also keeping even the more eccentric folk on earth with modern and premium looks. You won’t find pinks or greens, instead, marble and mahogany make your gaming setup look fresh yet tasteful.
In terms of build quality, while it all depends on how well you tighten your screws by the end of it, the materials themselves used within a build feel really strong and foundationally stable. The desktop is sturdy, the frame feels tanklike, and the touchpad is nice to the touch. When it came time to actually build this thing, it was an extremely easy process and the manual makes sure to cover every base no matter what parts you bought. You can get this thing together in about 30 minutes.
Specs and Special Features
When it comes to what’s offered, it’s important to point out the elephant in the room; the price. The build that I was given is in the ballpark of $650, which is a lot of money. Luckily, the Pro Plus Standing Desk justifies its pricepoint in its build quality and the fact that you get to choose the parts you want in your final product. Along with that comes the additional features such as a max weight capacity of a whopping 355lbs, a cable tray that keeps its wires out of the way, and the premium keypad that just works exceptionally without having clickable buttons.

Functionality
Similar to the Pro Standing Desk, the Pro Plus features an extremely smooth set of mechanisms that adjust the desk upwards and down. Switching quickly between raising and lowering is very responsive as well, especially in those anti-collision situations. That feature can even be adjusted in terms of sensitivity or whether it’s on at all.
The preset height profiles are always a great touch with the addition of sit and stand functions to make sure you always have your personal specs saved in a pinch. The max capacity load being improved on is also a welcoming touch for those who use a lot of heavy equipment whether that be computers, sewing machines, or even tools for electronic repairs.
The cable tray is a great new feature not only because it houses its own cable but it has a bit of room to run other necessary cables needed for any items that may be on top of the desk. It’s easy to install and has the efficiency of quick removability in order to easily loop cables through it.
What It Could Have Done Better
If I had to nitpick, I’d say that I wish the touchpad had some kind of haptic feedback. That aspect not being there can leave a user not knowing if the desk is responding to things such as anti-collision changes. Giving a nudge back to your pointer finger makes things feel more responsive even if they aren’t.
Verdict
The Pro Plus Standing Desk improves upon an already stellar design, offering more features and a sturdier structure to fit any and all needed functions. Though its price tag is heavy, the customization and overall user experience make it feel like a justifiable price to pay overall. If a standing desk is what you need, the Pro Plus delivers that and then some.
