This week marks the thirteen year anniversary of the first Gears of War. It is unbelievable to think that it has already been thirteen years! I may have been a little late to the launch party, (a few years too late) but I still remember the day I picked up the game like it was yesterday.
In celebration, Gears 5 has brought back “Golden Gun”. A crazy versus mode where players are armed with a six round Boltok pistol that insta-kills anyone that is hit, but you are only allowed to hip-fire. Hitting someone puts a bullet right back into the chamber, where as missing will have you sitting through the longest reload of your life. To make the mode even crazier, all player skins are wearing oversized Marcus, and RAAM heads on their respective teams.
On top of Golden Gun, from November 8th to the 11th, players can earn double stars from their daily tour objectives. With the first operation coming to a close, now is the best time to push for that General rank if you haven’t hit it already. Here’s to thirteen years of Gears! With hopefully many more to come.
