On November 8th, 2019, Pokemon.com and illusive independent game designer and video game music composer Toby Fox surprised the world by announcing that Fox will be composing a battle theme for the upcoming 8th Generation of Pokemon games: Pokemon Shield and Sword. Fox is known for creating the hit video game Undertale.
Undertale, of course, is noted as being a pastiche of the Mother/Earthbound series which were a partial influence on the mechanics of the Pokemon series, especially in the early days. The influences are all coming full circle.
It is not currently known where the track will be played in-game. Pokemon Shield and Sword will be released worldwide on November 15th, 2019.
